Like me, you've probably heard people say you shouldn't lift weights because........
You will get really muscly?
You will look a scary?
You will get bulky?
You will look manly?

No, no, no……….it is a common misconception that you will look like this, BUT what actually happens is this.........

Honestly.......
You will look much leaner
You will look more toned
You will feel so much more confident
You will feel stronger doing every day tasks
But I thought that only cardio exercises burn fat.......
Yes and No
Many people think that to lose weight you have to constantly go for long runs or spend ages cycling, I've been there and slogged my way around huge distances believing it was what I needed to do! YES these exercises are helpful in burning fat BUT, the key to a tighter body is is build a toned and muscular base. We achieve this by lifting weights or using body weight exercises.
Here's the science behind the theory.......
The truth is…….gaining muscle and losing fat will actually slim you down! Women lifting heavier weights with lower reps will burn more calories than women lifting lighter weights at higher reps. Don’t be scared to lift weights. Muscle burns calories even when you're not working out and over time your body will burn calories much quicker.
The female body isn’t designed to be bulky and muscly, our bodies have far fewer hormones than the male body does. We would need to consistently lift huge weights and bulk up our diets by eating lots of protein and being completely clean and healthy to end up this way. Diet is just as important as exercise.
Why is it important I lift weights?
I didn't realise this until I trained and qualified as a personal trainer that it is so important that as we age we need lift weights. It helps to prevent injuries, strengthen our bones and reduces the risk of osteoporosis. Strengthening both body and mind.
How do I get toned arms?
There are many exercises we can do to tone and strengthen our arms, maybe you've been trying to do this but aren't not seeing results. Maybe you're not doing enough reps, or maybe too many? Are you lifting heavy enough weights? Contact me and I can help put a programme of specific exercises in place for you, I am here to help you.
