I get asked this question every single day, and its one most of us have asked at some point or another.
The honest truth.......?
It's going to take time. Particularly if you want the fantastic 'new you' shape that you work so hard for to remain for the long term. You’ve got to be patient and trust the process. Trust me - there's no magic pill and no success overnight, but put in the time and effort and you'll reap the rewards.
Naughty treats are OK! Occasionally :-)
I love nothing more than a glass of wine, a pizza and a bar of chocolate (a perfect night in!) BUT, I know I can't do this every day and still see and feel results. So I live a healthier lifestyle, making better, more nutritious food choices around 80% of the time, and you know what, i honestly feel better for it - more energy, less lethargic and less of those hunger pangs between meals that had me reaching for the snack cupboard (but that's a whole other blog post!). Doing this means I can enjoy the naughty treats, guilt free!
The perfect partnership
To maintain a healthy weight, it's about 80% diet and 20% exercise, I don’t agree with dietING because it won't satisfy me, i'll end up wanting those naughty things i'm denying myself more and just having a binge further down the line. I truly believe that the key is balance and moderation, changing one small step at a time to gradually adapt into good habits.
Yes but WHEN will I see results?
Everyone is different and there are so many variables! But here's a rough timeline showing how losing weight gradually will make you feel:

1-3 months
Water loss begins and you'll have lost a few pounds
You'll start to feel and see a change in your clothes size
You're starting to feel fitter and stronger
3-6 months
All the good practices you've put in place are now good habits
People are starting to notice how good you look and you get compliments
6-9 months
You're noticing significant body fat changes. Your body is toning up
You're committed and focused to the process now. You trust it!
9-12 months
You have renewed self confidence and your new way is your lifestyle. WELL DONE, this is a great achievement
